Duke LO Error Code

Under-temperature fault — the control senses the shelf is below its factory preset temperature

Source: Duke/muhc-34ch-230__duk-muhc-iom.pdf

What does Duke LO mean?

On a Duke Product Holding Cabinet, the keypad shows "LO" when the control detects an under-temperature fault: the shelf temperature has stayed lower than the factory preset for more than thirty minutes continuously. According to the manual, this occurs when the heating element circuit opens or the RTD feedback signal is faulty, so the shelf cannot reach or hold its target hold temperature.

Symptoms

  • The keypad display reads "LO"
  • The affected well or shelf will not reach its programmed hold temperature
  • Held product stays below safe holding temperature
  • The shelf has been below set point for more than thirty minutes continuously

Common causes

  • The heating element circuit has opened (failed or broken element)
  • A faulty RTD feedback signal from the temperature sensor
  • A wiring or connection failure in the heater circuit
  • A failed temperature control board

Diagnostic steps

  1. Stop using the affected unit

The manual states the affected unit should not be used until the cause of the fault is corrected. Move product to a working warmer to keep it at a safe holding temperature.

  2. Confirm the displayed fault

Check the keypad for the "LO" message and note which well or shelf is affected.

  3. Run the temperature check procedure

Use a calibrated digital meter and a thermocouple surface probe to verify the shelf temperature per the manual's Temperature Check Procedure and record the readings.

  4. Record your findings

Note the displayed fault and the measured temperatures so the technician can diagnose whether the element circuit or RTD signal is at fault.

  5. Have a qualified technician correct the fault

There are no user-serviceable parts; a qualified service technician must repair the open heater circuit or faulty RTD before the unit is returned to use.

When to call a professional

Call a qualified service technician whenever "LO" appears. Duke states there are no user-serviceable parts on the Product Holding Cabinet and that the affected unit must not be used until the under-temperature fault is corrected by a qualified technician. Because the cause is typically an open heating-element circuit or a faulty RTD feedback signal, diagnosis requires electrical service work; contact your Duke authorized service agent or the hotline at 1-800-735-3853.
