What does Munters LOW TEMP mean?

On a Munters Smart C/D climate controller, LOW TEMP is the low temperature alarm. The manual explains it means the average temperature in the building is lower than the temperature set as the alarm's temperature. It warns the operator that the environment has fallen below the configured low limit and the heating response may be inadequate.

Symptoms

  • LOW TEMP alarm shown on the main screen, alternating with the normal display
  • Measured average building temperature is below the set low alarm limit
  • Alarm relay activates and the message repeats until conditions return to normal
  • Building feels colder than the target setpoint

Common causes

  • Average building temperature has fallen below the low alarm temperature
  • Heating capacity is insufficient for current conditions
  • Low alarm temperature is set too high for the situation
  • Heating devices are not operating as required

Diagnostic steps

  1. 01

    Acknowledge the alarm

Press OK on the main menu to reset the alarm relay; the manual notes the message continues until the problem is resolved.

  2. 02

    Confirm the actual temperature

Check the building temperature against the low alarm temperature you configured to confirm the reading is real.

  3. 03

    Verify heating is running

Ensure the heating outputs the controller manages are operating to raise the temperature back to target.

  4. 04

    Review the alarm temperature setting

Check the low alarm temperature in the Alarms menu to confirm it is set appropriately for the current stage.

When to call a professional

Call a qualified technician if the temperature stays below the alarm limit despite heating running, since livestock can be at risk during a sustained low-temperature event. The manual also cautions not to open the controller box if a hardware problem arises and to contact an authorized electrician, so bring in a professional for any wiring or controller fault behind the alarm.
