Ako F8 Error Code

Regulation remotely stopped due to digital input 15 or I6; all stages/compressor

Source: 351454502-5.pdf

What does Ako F8 mean?

F8 indicates that the controller's regulation has been remotely stopped via digital input 15 or 16. All compressor stages and compressor outputs are de-energized while F8 is active. This is a deliberate remote-control function, not a fault, and is typically used for energy management, store closure routines, or remote off switching. Regulation resumes automatically when the digital input signal is removed.

Symptoms

  • F8 appears on the display.
  • All compressor stages and compressor relay outputs are off.
  • Fans continue to operate according to their own parameters.
  • No alarm relay activation — F8 is a status indicator, not a fault.
  • Cold room temperature rises while F8 is active if the space is not already at setpoint.

Common causes

  • A remote off signal is being applied to digital input 15 or 16 as intended (normal operation).
  • Remote switch or BMS contact wired to the input has stuck in the closed/active state.
  • Wiring short circuit on the digital input 15/16 circuit generating a continuous signal.
  • Energy management or load-shedding system sending an unintended shutdown command.

Diagnostic steps

  1. Confirm the F8 signal is intentional

Check whether the building management system (BMS), store controller, or remote switch is intentionally issuing an off command. If F8 appears at an unexpected time, suspect a stuck contact or wiring fault.

  2. Locate the remote switch or contact on digital input 15/16

Consult the wiring diagram to identify the device sending the remote-stop signal. Check whether the switch or relay contact is stuck closed.

  3. Inspect digital input 15/16 wiring

Power off the controller and test continuity of the wiring to the input. A short circuit in the cable will hold the input active even when the remote switch is open.

  4. Remove or open the remote signal to restore regulation

Open the remote contact or disconnect the digital input. Confirm F8 clears and compressor regulation resumes. If regulation does not resume, check the regulation enable parameter settings.

  5. Investigate and repair any stuck contact or wiring fault

Replace a stuck relay contact or repair the damaged cable segment causing the spurious signal. Test the digital input in normal and active states before returning the system to service.

When to call a professional

Call a licensed technician if the remote-stop function is integrated into a BMS or energy management system and the signal source cannot be identified from the panel. If the cold room has been off long enough to raise product temperatures, a technician should assess food safety status and verify the refrigeration system pulls down correctly once regulation is restored.
