Lincoln BELT JAM Error Code

Conveyor belt not turning — the control's Hall-effect sensor detects no conveyor motion.

What does Lincoln BELT JAM mean?

On Lincoln Impinger II Advantage Digital ovens with push-button controls, the conveyor uses a Hall-effect sensor and magnet to prove the conveyor motor is turning. When the control sees no motion signal, it shows BELT JAM on the display. It appears both when the conveyor motor will not run and when the motor runs but the speed signal never reaches the control.

Symptoms

  • Display reads "BELT JAM"
  • Conveyor belt is stopped or stalled
  • No conveyor speed value shown on the control
  • Conveyor motor may run yet no speed registers
  • Product not advancing through the oven

Common causes

  • Conveyor belt physically jammed or obstructed
  • Conveyor motor not running (no supply voltage or failed windings)
  • Hall-effect speed sensor in the conveyor motor not outputting a signal
  • Wiring fault between the Hall-effect sensor and the oven control
  • Conveyor motor capacitor or reversing switch fault
  • Failed oven control board

Diagnostic steps

  1. Clear any physical obstruction

Power the oven off and inspect the conveyor belt for jams, debris, or binding. Free the belt so it can turn by hand, then restart and see if BELT JAM clears.

  2. Confirm power to the conveyor motor

Check for 120VAC at the conveyor motor (wire #14 to neutral). If absent, trace wiring back to the control transformer primary; if 10A fuse, fuse holder, control-box hi-limit thermostat, or power switch are open, correct those first.

  3. Test the conveyor motor windings

With power off, check the motor windings (grey-to-black and grey-to-blue approx. 38Ω, blue-to-black approx. 75Ω on 120V models). If any reading fails, replace the conveyor motor; also check the motor capacitor and reversing switch.

  4. Verify the Hall-effect sensor output

If the motor runs but speed shows BELT JAM, measure about 10VDC supply to the sensor (red and yellow wires) and a frequency of about 25–100 Hz across the yellow and white wires. No frequency means replace the conveyor motor.

  5. Replace the oven control if signals are good

If supply voltage and Hall-effect frequency are correct but the display still shows BELT JAM with no speed reading, replace the oven control board.

When to call a professional

Tracing 120VAC supply, measuring motor windings, and reading Hall-effect sensor frequency require a multimeter and work inside an energized control box where stored capacitor charge is present. If clearing obvious belt obstructions does not restore operation, have a qualified Lincoln service technician perform the voltage, winding, and sensor checks and any motor or control-board replacement to avoid shock and to confirm the correct part.
