Electrolux Professional EtC Error Code

Cavity safety switch triggered (TSC) — cavity over-temperature

What does Electrolux Professional EtC mean?

On a SkyLine combi oven, EtC means the cavity safety thermostat (TSC) has tripped because the cooking chamber reached an over-temperature condition. The oven stops to protect itself. It is one of the safety-critical alarms: the control will not resume cooking until the cause of the excess cavity heat is found and cleared by a service technician.

Symptoms

  • EtC shown on the display and the oven stops
  • Cavity noticeably hotter than the set temperature
  • Cooking cannot be started or continued
  • Cooling fan may run while heating elements are locked out

Common causes

  • Dirty cavity holding excess heat
  • Parameter COT set too high
  • Safety thermostat bulb or capillary damaged
  • Motor fan blocked while heat is still on
  • Cavity TC temperature sensor giving erratic readings
  • Heat leakage near the safety thermostat body

Diagnostic steps

  1. Stop and let the oven cool

Allow the cavity temperature to drop before any further action so the safety circuit can reset.

  2. Clean the cavity

Remove grease and food residue, since a dirty cavity traps heat and can re-trigger the over-temperature switch.

  3. Check the cooling fan

Confirm the motor fan is turning freely; a blocked fan lets heat build while the oven is still on.

  4. Note any erratic temperature behaviour

Watch whether the cavity sensor reports unstable values, which points to a sensor or wiring fault.

  5. Call Service if it recurs

The manual directs the user to call Service for this alarm, as the thermostat, capillary or sensor may need inspection.

When to call a professional

Call an Electrolux Professional authorised engineer if EtC returns after cleaning and cooling. The safety thermostat bulb, capillary, cavity TC sensor and the COT parameter are inside the appliance and behind the safety chain. Diagnosing a damaged thermostat body or heat leakage, and resetting the safety circuit correctly, requires a trained technician and should not be attempted by kitchen staff.
