Irinox A31 Error Code

Power failure occurred during an active cycle (automatic reset / block cycle) – MULTIFRESH NEXT

Source: Irinox_MULTI_FRESH_NEXT_S_None_ServiceManual_RF_EN_part02.pdf

What does Irinox A31 mean?

Alarm A31 is logged by the MULTIFRESH NEXT controller to record that a power failure occurred while a cycle was in progress. When mains power is restored, the board detects that the previous cycle did not complete normally and raises A31 to alert the operator or technician. The alarm resets automatically, but the interrupted cycle must be restarted manually to ensure the food load reaches its target temperature.

Symptoms

  • A31 appears on the display immediately after power is restored following a mains outage
  • The previously running cycle is shown as incomplete or aborted in the cycle log
  • Product temperatures in the cabinet may not have reached the target blast-chill or freezing setpoint
  • The alarm clears automatically on acknowledgement; no component fault is indicated
  • Repeated A31 events without a known power cut suggest an unstable mains supply or upstream electrical fault

Common causes

  • Mains power supply failure (blackout, blown fuse, tripped breaker, or grid interruption) during an active cycle

Diagnostic steps

  1. Acknowledge and log the alarm

Clear A31 from the display and record the event in your service log, noting the time, the interrupted cycle type, and estimated duration of the power failure.

  2. Check mains supply and upstream protection

Inspect the incoming supply voltage, the dedicated circuit breaker, and any isolation switch for the MULTIFRESH NEXT. Confirm voltage is stable and within the unit's rated supply specification before proceeding.

  3. Assess product safety

Check cabinet and product temperatures to determine whether the food load remained within safe temperature limits during the outage. Follow applicable food safety guidelines; discard product if temperature abuse cannot be ruled out.

  4. Restart the required cycle

Once mains supply is confirmed stable, restart the appropriate blast-chill or freezing cycle from the beginning to ensure the product reaches its target core temperature.

  5. Investigate repeated A31 events

If A31 is logged frequently without a clear external power cut, use a power quality meter on the incoming supply to check for voltage sags, dropouts, or intermittent neutral loss that may be triggering spurious shutdowns.

When to call a professional

If A31 recurs repeatedly and no external mains power interruption can be identified, engage a qualified electrician to assess the building's electrical installation for supply instability, undersized wiring, or faulty upstream protection devices. If the MULTIFRESH NEXT itself fails to restart normally after power is restored, contact an Irinox-authorised technician to check the PU power board for damage caused by voltage transients during the outage.
