Lainox CELL PROBE Error Code

Cell (chamber) temperature probe error

Source: Lainox/documents/ZO051BA__manuale-uso__en.pdf

What does Lainox CELL PROBE mean?

The CELL PROBE alarm indicates a fault on the cell (chamber) temperature probe. The controller can no longer trust the chamber temperature reading, so temperature-based regulation is compromised. The alarm relay is activated. Depending on when the fault is detected, the unit either blocks a new cycle from starting or forces the compressor into a fixed continuous or parameter-driven mode rather than true temperature control.

Symptoms

  • CELL PROBE alarm message appears on the controller.
  • Chamber temperature reading is absent, frozen, or clearly wrong.
  • A new operating cycle cannot be started from stand-by.
  • During chilling or deep freezing the compressor runs continuously.
  • Minimum/maximum temperature alarms and door resistances no longer activate.

Common causes

  • Faulty or out-of-range cell temperature probe.
  • Damaged or broken probe wiring.
  • Loose or corroded probe connection at the controller.
  • Incorrect probe-related parameter setting (parameter P0).
  • Abnormal actual cell temperature outside the probe's valid range.

Diagnostic steps

  1. Check parameter P0

Verify the value of parameter P0 as the manual directs; an incorrect probe configuration can trigger the cell probe error.

  2. Inspect the probe integrity

Check the integrity of the cell probe for physical damage, cuts, or a shorted element, and replace it if it is defective.

  3. Check the device-probe connection

Inspect the wiring and terminal between the probe and the controller for loose, corroded, or disconnected contacts and reseat them securely.

  4. Verify the cell temperature

Confirm the actual cell temperature is within a sensible range; an extreme temperature can read as a probe fault.

  5. Confirm operation restores

After repair, verify a temperature-based cycle can start from stand-by and that the alarm relay has reset and minimum/maximum temperature protection is active again.

When to call a professional

If checking parameter P0, the probe, its wiring, and the cell temperature does not clear the alarm, the probe or control board likely needs replacement by an authorised technician. Because a faulty cell probe disables minimum and maximum temperature alarms and forces non-regulated compressor operation, do not leave product in the unit relying on temperature control until the fault is repaired by qualified personnel.
