Lainox RTC Error Code

Clock error - the device cannot store the date and time of HACCP alarms

Source: Lainox/documents/ZO051BA__manuale-uso__en.pdf

What does Lainox RTC mean?

RTC signals a real-time clock error on the controller. The unit can no longer reliably keep the current date and time, so it cannot stamp HACCP alarm events correctly. The control also energizes its alarm relay when this fault is present. It is shown in the appliance's alarm list as a maintenance condition that needs the clock reset or, if it recurs, service attention.

Symptoms

  • RTC alarm message appears in the controller's alarm list.
  • Date and time displayed are wrong, lost, or reset.
  • HACCP alarm records are not stamped with the correct date and time.
  • The alarm relay output is activated.

Common causes

  • Date and time were never set or were cleared after a power interruption.
  • Depleted or failing clock backup battery on the control board.
  • Real-time clock chip or control board fault.
  • Prolonged disconnection from power.

Diagnostic steps

  1. Reset the date and time

Per the manual, set the present day and time again from the real-time clock menu. This is the manufacturer's stated solution for the RTC alarm.

  2. Confirm the alarm clears

After setting the clock, verify the RTC message no longer appears in the alarm list and that the alarm relay output has reset.

  3. Watch for recurrence after power-off

If the clock loses time again each time the unit is unplugged or power is interrupted, the onboard clock backup battery is likely depleted and needs replacement.

  4. Verify HACCP logging resumes

Because RTC errors prevent correct date/time stamping of HACCP alarms, confirm that subsequent alarm events are recorded with the correct timestamp once the clock is fixed.

When to call a professional

If resetting the date and time does not clear the RTC alarm, or the clock keeps losing time, an authorised service technician should inspect the control board's backup battery and real-time clock circuit. Because accurate timestamps underpin HACCP food-safety records, do not keep the appliance in HACCP-critical service with an unresolved RTC fault; have it repaired by qualified personnel.
