Pitco 5+ Flashes Error Code
Ignition module orange LED — Internal Module Failure: the ignition module itself is corrupted or faulty.
Source: PITCO/pitco_controller_error_codes.txt
What does Pitco 5+ Flashes mean?
Five or more orange flashes on the Pitco ignition module indicate an Internal Module Failure — the module itself is corrupted or faulty. Unlike the 1- through 4-flash codes, which point to external problems to investigate, this code means the fault is inside the module. There is no external fix: the ignition module (PN 60152001) must be replaced.
Symptoms
- Orange LED flashes five or more times, pauses, and repeats.
- Fault does not resolve after addressing gas, ignition, and wiring.
- Module behavior is erratic or unresponsive.
- Power-cycling does not restore reliable operation.
Common causes
- Internal module electronics are corrupted.
- Module firmware or logic has failed.
- Module hardware fault with no field-serviceable remedy.

Diagnostic steps
Confirm the flash count
Verify the LED is flashing five or more times rather than one of the 1-to-4 external fault codes, since those have field fixes while 5+ does not.
Power-cycle once to rule out a transient
Turn the fryer off, wait 10 seconds, and turn it on. If 5+ flashes returns immediately, the module is confirmed bad.
Replace the ignition module
Replace the ignition module with the correct part (PN 60152001). Note the new version, Q3 2017 and later, has a revised terminal order and the LED trouble codes printed on its label.
Verify terminal wiring on the replacement
Match the wiring to the module version — old and new share PN 60152001 but differ in terminal order — and set the spark gap to 0.2 inches maximum.
When to call a professional
Call a Pitco-authorized technician to replace the ignition module, since 5+ flashes has no external fix and the new module version has a changed terminal order that must be wired correctly. A technician trained on the Matchless ignition system can swap the module, match the terminal layout, set the spark gap, and confirm safe ignition before returning the fryer to service.
