What does Sirman E1 mean?

The PLD 300-330-350 AUT control has detected that the mechanical load on the cutting or portioning mechanism exceeds safe operating limits. The drive system is being asked to work harder than the machine is designed to handle, likely because too much product has been loaded into the hopper at once. The control triggers E1 to protect the motor and drive components from damage due to overload.

Symptoms

• Display shows 'E1' during or at the start of a portioning cycle
• Machine stops or refuses to begin the portioning cycle
• Unusual motor strain noise may be audible before the error triggers
• Product in hopper is not being portioned or fed through
• Error may clear when product load is reduced and cycle is restarted

Common causes

• Excessive quantity or weight of product loaded into the hopper beyond machine capacity
• Product type is too dense, frozen, or compacted for the current load quantity
• Product bridging or jamming in the hopper causing concentrated point load on the mechanism
• Worn cutting blade or portioning components increasing resistance under normal load
• Drive belt, chain, or gearbox wear causing reduced torque capacity

Diagnostic steps

   Remove excess product from the hopper

   Following the Sirman manual's guidance, reduce the quantity and weight of product in the hopper to within the specified capacity for the PLD 300/330/350 AUT model being serviced.

   Check product condition

   Confirm the product is not frozen solid, excessively compacted, or bridging across the hopper. Product should be at the appropriate temperature and consistency for portioning per product guidelines.

   Clear any jams in the hopper and feed path

   With the machine powered off, inspect the hopper and feed mechanism for jammed product pieces or foreign material creating abnormal resistance, and clear completely before restarting.

   Restart with reduced load and observe

   Reload with a smaller quantity of product and restart the portioning cycle, confirming E1 clears and the machine operates smoothly without strain noises or hesitation.

   Inspect the cutting blade for sharpness and condition

   A dull or damaged blade significantly increases mechanical load. Check the blade condition and sharpen or replace it if wear is evident, as this can cause E1 to trigger at normal product loads.
