AccuTemp OVERTEMP Error Code

Steamer has overheated, often because it ran out of water

Source: AccuTemp/e62083d100__acc-e-iom.pdf

What does AccuTemp OVERTEMP mean?

The OVERTEMP warning light on an AccuTemp Evolution steamer means the steamer has overheated. The most common reason is that it ran out of water, so the heating element kept driving temperature up with no water to boil. The light stays on until the unit cools; once the OverTemp light goes out the steamer can be restarted.

Symptoms

  • OVERTEMP warning light is illuminated on the operator panel
  • Steamer has stopped heating or generating steam
  • Little or no water in the bottom of the cooking chamber
  • Unit will not resume cooking until it has cooled

Common causes

  • Steamer ran out of water during operation
  • Water supply to a connected model is turned off
  • Dirty water-level sensor probes giving a false reading
  • Low or interrupted incoming water on a plumbed unit

Diagnostic steps

  1. Carefully open the door

Open the door to let steam escape, then check the water level in the bottom of the steamer. Use protective gloves to avoid burns.

  2. Restore the water supply

If the chamber is nearly empty, check the water supply and make sure it is not turned off so the unit can refill.

  3. Clean the water-level sensor probes

Clean the water-level sensor probes (the white buttons) in the front left corner and the wall immediately around them, being careful not to get burned.

  4. Let the steamer cool and restart

If the steamer has plenty of water, allow it to cool, which normally takes a few minutes. When the OverTemp light goes out, restart the steamer.

When to call a professional

Clearing OVERTEMP is largely an operator task: open the door safely, restore water and clean the sensor probes. Wear protective gloves because steam and surfaces are hot. If the light keeps returning even with a full chamber and clean probes, the over-temperature limit or water board may be at fault. Stop and call AccuTemp Technical Service at 800-480-0415, because component service must be done by authorized personnel.
