What does AHT Cooling Systems E06 mean?

The control board reports a fault in the high-pressure sensor. This transducer measures refrigerant pressure on the high-pressure (discharge) side of the compressor. A failed sensor, broken wire, or out-of-range signal triggers E06, preventing the controller from monitoring condensing pressure and protecting the compressor from high-pressure conditions.

Symptoms

  • E06 displayed with red LED and audible buzzer.
  • High-pressure monitoring disabled; compressor protection relies on mechanical pressure switch only.
  • Compressor operation continues but without electronic high-side pressure control.
  • Cabinet temperature may become unstable.

Common causes

  • High-pressure sensor transducer failed (open-circuit, short-circuit, or stuck reading).
  • Wiring between sensor and control board damaged or connector loose.
  • Sensor Schrader port leak causing refrigerant loss and incorrect pressure reading.
  • Control board input channel for high-pressure sensor faulty.
  • Connector corrosion from moisture ingress in the machinery compartment.

Diagnostic steps

  1. Move goods and record the fault

Transfer perishable goods to another appropriately rated cabinet. Note the device type and serial number.

  2. Inspect sensor wiring

Check the cable and connector between the high-pressure sensor and the control board for damage, corrosion, or loose pins. Reseat connections.

  3. Check sensor voltage output

With a multimeter, verify the sensor supply voltage and output signal voltage are within the range specified in the AHT service manual. An out-of-range output confirms sensor failure.

  4. Inspect sensor fitting for leaks

Check the Schrader fitting or sensor port for refrigerant leaks using a leak detector. Do not open the refrigerant circuit without proper recovery equipment.

  5. Replace the sensor

Fit an AHT-approved high-pressure transducer. Refrigerant recovery and recharge may be required if the circuit must be opened.

  6. Restore power and verify

Confirm E06 is cleared after sensor replacement. Allow 2 hours of stable operation before reloading goods.

When to call a professional

High-pressure sensor replacement on pressurized refrigerant lines must be performed by an AHT-authorized technician certified for the applicable refrigerant (R-290 flammable or R-134a). Contact AHT service at 00800/73783248 or www.aht.at/service.
