What does AHT Cooling Systems E09 mean?
The control board detects a fault in the internal goods room temperature sensor. This NTC probe monitors the air temperature inside the refrigerated display cabinet and is the primary reference for temperature control and alarm thresholds. An open-circuit, short-circuit, or out-of-range reading triggers E09, preventing accurate temperature monitoring and potentially disabling temperature alarm functions.
Symptoms
- E09 fault code displayed on the control panel with red status LED illuminated.
- Buzzer sounds to alert operating staff.
- Goods room temperature display may show dashes or an implausible value.
- Temperature high/low alarms may not function correctly while the sensor is faulted.
- Cabinet may continue cooling but without accurate control feedback.
Common causes
- Internal temperature sensor open-circuit or short-circuit failure due to component aging.
- Sensor lead damaged by ice buildup, moisture ingress, or physical contact.
- Loose or corroded connector at the sensor or at the control board terminal.
- Sensor displaced from its mounting position in the goods room airstream.
- Control board sensor input channel failure.
Diagnostic steps
- 01
Protect goods and log the fault
Transfer perishable goods to another cabinet at the correct temperature class immediately. Record fault code E09, device type, and serial number from the nameplate.

Locate the goods room temperature sensor
Find the NTC temperature probe mounted inside the goods room area of the Vento cabinet — typically positioned in the evaporator airstream or goods compartment per the AHT service diagram for your model.

Inspect sensor mounting and wiring
Check that the sensor is correctly seated in its holder and that the lead is routed without sharp bends, pinch points, or ice contact. Reseat the connector at both the sensor and control board ends.

Measure sensor resistance
Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter at known ambient temperature. An open circuit or dead short compared to the NTC curve in the AHT service manual confirms the sensor must be replaced.

Replace the sensor
Fit an AHT-approved goods room temperature sensor, ensuring it is correctly positioned and secured per AHT service documentation.

Verify fault cleared
Power up the cabinet, confirm E09 no longer appears, and monitor for 2 hours before reloading goods.
