What does AHT Cooling Systems E13 mean?
The controller reports a fault in the EEPROM — the non-volatile memory chip on the control board that stores configuration parameters, setpoints, and calibration data. The AHT Vento IOM explicitly states E13 means the control board is defective. A corrupted or failed EEPROM means the controller cannot reliably read its own operating parameters, making continued operation unsafe and triggering a protective shutdown.
Symptoms
- E13 fault code on the display with red status LED and buzzer active.
- Controller may lose stored setpoints or revert to default values.
- Cabinet refrigeration shuts down or behaves erratically.
- Power cycling does not clear the fault — EEPROM hardware is defective.
- Other previously stored alarm history may be lost.
Common causes
- EEPROM chip failure due to end of write-cycle life (aged control board).
- Voltage spike or brown-out event corrupting EEPROM memory content during a write cycle.
- Control board hardware defect affecting the EEPROM circuit.
- Incompatible firmware update process leaving EEPROM in an inconsistent state.
- Severe electromagnetic interference during an EEPROM write operation.
Diagnostic steps
- 01
Move goods immediately
Transfer all perishable goods to another cabinet at the correct product temperature class without delay. E13 indicates a control board defect — do not rely on the cabinet for temperature control.
- 02
Record fault and device details
Note fault code E13, device type, and serial number (from nameplate and stickers per AHT IOM Fig. 13). This information is required when contacting AHT service.
- 03
Attempt a single power cycle
Disconnect and reconnect mains power once. If E13 clears and does not return, monitor closely. If E13 returns immediately or after a short time, the EEPROM or control board is definitively faulty.
- 04
Check mains supply quality
Verify supply voltage is stable and within the specification on the nameplate. Repeated EEPROM faults on otherwise healthy boards can indicate a poor power supply quality causing write corruption.
- 05
Contact AHT service for control board replacement
E13 confirms the control board is defective per the AHT manual. Control board replacement requires an AHT-authorized technician. Contact AHT service at 00800/73783248 or www.aht.at/service.

When to call a professional
E13 is explicitly classified as a control board defect in the AHT Vento IOM and requires replacement by an AHT-authorized technician. Do not continue operating the cabinet with an active E13. Contact AHT service at 00800/73783248 or www.aht.at/service immediately.
