What does Frymaster E25 mean?

On gas FilterQuick fryers equipped with a combustion blower, the controller energizes the blower motor before attempting ignition and then waits for the air pressure switch to close — confirming that adequate airflow exists in the burner plenum. E25 means the pressure switch did not close within the allowed time window, so the controller aborted the ignition sequence and locked out heating to prevent an uncontrolled gas release.

Symptoms

  • Display shows E25 and the fryer will not attempt ignition.
  • Blower motor may be audibly running but the burner never fires.
  • Fryer does not heat regardless of cook commands; oil temperature drops.
  • Error clears and immediately returns when reset if the root cause is not fixed.

Common causes

  • Blocked or obstructed blower inlet or outlet — grease buildup preventing adequate airflow.
  • Failed blower motor that spins slowly or not at all, producing insufficient pressure differential.
  • Defective air pressure switch that will not close even with proper airflow.
  • Kinked, cracked, or disconnected pressure sensing tube between the blower housing and the switch.
  • Wiring fault — open circuit in the pressure switch signal wire to the SIB board.

Diagnostic steps

  1. Inspect the blower for obstruction

With the fryer powered off, remove the blower access panel and inspect the blower wheel and intake for grease accumulation, debris, or a failed motor capacitor. A heavily fouled blower wheel cannot build sufficient air pressure. Clean the wheel and housing per the maintenance schedule.

  2. Verify blower motor operation

Restore power and observe the blower during a heat call. The blower should start immediately before ignition and run continuously. A slow-starting or noisy blower motor indicates bearing failure or a failing run capacitor — replace the motor assembly.

  3. Inspect the pressure sensing tube

Trace the small rubber or silicone tubing from the blower housing to the pressure switch. Look for kinks, cracks, or disconnected ends. A broken tube prevents pressure from reaching the switch diaphragm even when the blower runs normally.

  4. Test the air pressure switch

With the blower running, use a multimeter on continuity mode across the pressure switch terminals. The switch should close (continuity) when the blower is at speed. No continuity with the blower running confirms a failed switch — replace it.

  5. Check wiring from switch to SIB board

Inspect the wiring harness between the pressure switch and the SIB board for damaged insulation, loose spade terminals, or corrosion. An open wire presents identically to a failed switch. Repair or replace the harness segment as needed.

When to call a professional

Call a licensed technician if the blower motor requires replacement, the pressure switch tests faulty, or E25 persists after cleaning and tube inspection. Gas burner interlock circuits must be correctly restored after any blower or pressure-switch repair; an improperly defeated interlock creates an uncontrolled combustion hazard.
