What does Frymaster E67 mean?
The FQ4000 detected at power-up that the System Interface Board (SIB) on the CAN network has not been configured — it is present and communicating, but its configuration parameters have not been programmed. This typically occurs after a SIB board replacement when the service technician did not complete the board configuration step. The fryer will not heat until the SIB is properly configured.
Symptoms
- Display shows E67 at startup; fryer does not heat.
- SIB board is physically installed and CAN communication is active, but the board is unconfigured.
- Typically appears immediately after a new SIB board is installed.
- No E46 or E55 (missing board) — the board is detected but not set up.
Common causes
- New SIB board installed without completing the configuration procedure.
- SIB board firmware reset to factory defaults during a software update.
- Incorrect SIB board type installed that requires different configuration parameters.
Diagnostic steps
- 01
Access the SIB configuration menu
Navigate to Home > Service > enter the service password (1650) > SIB Configuration (or equivalent path on your firmware version). This menu allows the technician to configure the SIB board parameters for the specific fryer model.

Enter the correct SIB configuration parameters
Input the required parameters for the fryer model — energy type, vat configuration, burner type, and any model-specific settings. Consult the FQ4000/M4000 service manual for the correct parameter values for your specific fryer model and configuration.

Save and apply the configuration
Save the SIB configuration. The controller will typically transmit the configuration to the SIB over the CAN bus. A power cycle may be required to apply the new settings.

Power cycle and verify E67 clears
After saving the SIB configuration, power the fryer off and back on. Confirm E67 does not reappear and the fryer responds to heat commands.

Test a full heat cycle
Command the fryer to heat and verify that temperature rises to setpoint normally. Confirm all safety interlock functions (high-limit, drain switch) are operating correctly with the configured SIB.
