RM Gastro E3 Error Code

7-segment display error on an induction cooking range — a fault reported by the 7-segment display module, shown as “E3” plus a sub-number.

What does RM Gastro E3 mean?

E3 codes come from the 7-segment display module on RM Gastro induction ranges. Sub-codes cover a damaged display (system integrity), display supply-voltage problems, display internal temperature too high, an open LIN bus with no communication, and a LIN bus collision from an address or configuration conflict. Some sub-codes, such as supply-voltage faults, reset automatically.

Symptoms

  • Display reads “E3” followed by a number
  • 7-segment digits missing, garbled or blank
  • Display drops out then resets on its own (supply-voltage fault)
  • Cooking zone shuts down on a display over-temperature fault

Common causes

  • Damaged 7-segment display module (E3 1)
  • Problem with the display power-supply voltage (E3 2)
  • Display internal temperature too high, or a damaged internal temperature sensor (E3 3)
  • Open LIN bus with no communication detected (E3 5)
  • LIN bus collision from an address or configuration conflict (E3 6)

Diagnostic steps

  1. Allow the system to cool

For a display over-temperature code, remove the pots, turn the system off and wait a few minutes for the cooking zone to cool down before restarting.

  2. Let a supply-voltage fault auto-reset

Display power-supply-voltage faults are listed as automatic reset — allow the module to recover rather than forcing a restart.

  3. Check the LIN bus and connecting cable

For an open-bus code, check the LIN bus and replace the connecting cable if no communication is detected.

  4. Verify knob configuration

For a LIN bus collision, check the knob configuration and the LIN bus connection to resolve the address or configuration conflict.

  5. Replace the 7-segment display

A damaged display (system integrity) or a persistent internal over-temperature with a faulty sensor calls for replacing the 7-segment display module.

  6. Contact service for unknown errors

If the display shows an unknown error (E3 FF) where the cause cannot be identified, contact customer service.

When to call a professional

Replacing the 7-segment display module, the internal temperature sensor, or the LIN connecting cable, and resolving bus address conflicts, should be done by a qualified technician. The manual directs unknown-error cases to customer service. If a cool-down restart and a cable/configuration check do not clear E3, call service rather than continuing to operate the range.
