TurboChef F1 Error Code

Blower Running Status Bad

Source: TurboChef/TBC-Bullet_spm.pdf

What does TurboChef F1 mean?

F1 is displayed when the blower motor controller indicates no running status. The motor and motor controller are monitored continuously in all modes. When the fault is detected the oven stops cooking and goes to the Cooling Down screen while flashing the F1 message. On power-up the control attempts to restart the motor, and the message clears if the restart succeeds.

Symptoms

  • Display flashes "F1: Blower"
  • Oven stops cooking and shows the Cooling Down screen
  • Cook cycle terminates upon discovery of the fault
  • Oven attempts to restart the blower motor on power-up

Common causes

  • Oven power interrupted
  • Blower motor not spinning freely (obstruction)
  • Oven type not set to "Bullet"
  • Defective blower motor speed controller (BMSC)
  • Defective I/O control board (SAGE)

Diagnostic steps

  1. Cycle power to the oven

Turn the oven off, unplug it for two minutes, then re-plug and switch on the main supply. The control will attempt to restart the motor; the fault clears if the restart succeeds.

  2. Confirm the oven type is set to Bullet

From the Info Mode Manufacturing screen verify the oven model is set to "Bullet," then check whether the F1 fault persists.

  3. Check that the blower motor spins freely

Inspect the blower for obstructions; remove any obstruction, or replace the blower motor if it does not turn freely.

  4. Check the motor winding resistances

Measure between windings and to chassis and compare against the motor windings resistance table (A-B, A-C, B-C each 2.0-2.6 ohms; windings to chassis open).

  5. Verify the status indicator and control wiring

In Test Mode confirm status indicator "A" responds when J1 pin 5 (Status OK wire) is grounded; if wiring is bad replace the BMSC or the I/O control board (SAGE) as the table directs.

When to call a professional

F1 troubleshooting involves resistance testing of blower motor windings, grounding control-wiring pins, and replacing the BMSC or the I/O control board (SAGE) inside the energized electrical compartment. These tasks require a qualified service technician familiar with the oven schematic. Only qualified service technicians should access service options unless directed by TurboChef; contact Customer Support at 800.90TURBO or your Authorized Distributor if the fault persists.
