TurboChef F8 Error Code
Heat Low
Source: TurboChef/TBC-Bullet_spm.pdf
What does TurboChef F8 mean?
F8 is displayed when the oven is warming up, or during Test Mode, if the cook cavity temperature fails to rise at least 14 degrees F (7 degrees C) within a given 30-second period. It indicates the oven is not heating up at the expected rate during warm-up, pointing to a heating-circuit problem rather than a momentary dip during cooking.
Symptoms
- Display shows "F8: Heat Low" during warm-up
- Oven warms up slowly or not at all
- Cook cavity temperature fails to climb 14 degrees F per 30 seconds
- Fault also appears during Test Mode heater checks
Common causes
- Tripped high-limit thermostat
- Defective top (H1) or bottom (H2) heater
- Defective solid state relay driving the heaters
- Wiring fault between the SSR and the I/O control board
- Faulty RTD reporting cavity temperature

Diagnostic steps
Reset the high-limit thermostat
Press the reset button on the back panel near the power cord and determine why it tripped before retrying warm-up.
Test the heaters in Test Mode
Run the Top and Bottom Heater Tests; H1 should read about 13 ohms and H2 about 14.4 ohms at room temperature, isolating a defective heater.
Check the solid state relay
In Test Mode turn on each heater and watch the K4/K5 control signal switch from 24 VDC to 0 VDC; if it does not switch correctly the SSR is suspect.
Verify SSR-to-control-board wiring
Inspect the 4-pin connector wiring between the solid state relay and the I/O control board and correct any wiring faults.
Confirm the RTDs read correctly
Verify each RTD is functioning so the control is reading true cavity temperature during warm-up.
When to call a professional
F8 diagnostics overlap with the heater circuit: isolating heater circuits, measuring heater and RTD resistances, and checking solid-state-relay signals inside the energized electrical compartment. This is service-technician work requiring the oven schematic and Test Mode. Have an authorized technician confirm and replace defective heaters, the SSR, or the control board, and contact TurboChef Customer Support at 800.90TURBO if warm-up still fails.
