TurboChef F2 Error Code

Cook Temperature Low

Source: TurboChef/TBC-Bullet_spm.pdf

What does TurboChef F2 mean?

F2 is displayed if the cook cavity temperature drops more than 120 degrees F (67 degrees C) below the set temperature during a cook cycle, registered after five seconds into the cycle. The fault clears at the onset of cooking if the cavity temperature is within 120 degrees F of the set point, or when the heaters are tested in Test Mode.

Symptoms

  • Display shows "F2: Low Temp"
  • Cook cavity runs cooler than the set temperature
  • Food is undercooked or cooking is inconsistent
  • Fault appears a few seconds into the cook cycle

Common causes

  • Oven power interrupted
  • High-limit thermostat tripped (excess grease buildup, etc.)
  • Air nozzles on the top or bottom of the cook cavity clogged
  • Oven door out of alignment
  • Defective top (H1) or bottom (H2) heater
  • Defective solid state relay or RTD

Diagnostic steps

  1. Reset the high-limit thermostat

Press the reset button on the back panel near the power cord and determine why it tripped, such as excess grease buildup.

  2. Unclog the cook-cavity air nozzles

During daily cleaning, make sure the air nozzles on the top and bottom of the cook cavity are clear, and verify the door closes in alignment.

  3. Test the heaters in Test Mode

Run the Top Heater Test and Bottom Heater Test; the H1 heater should read about 13 ohms and the H2 heater about 14.4 ohms at room temperature.

  4. Check the solid state relay (SSR)

In Test Mode turn on each heater and check the K4/K5 control signal; if the signal goes from 24 VDC to 0 VDC the SSR is defective and should be replaced.

  5. Verify the RTDs and wiring

Confirm each RTD is functioning per the RTD testing procedure; correct wiring or replace the defective RTD or I/O control board (SAGE) as needed.

When to call a professional

Diagnosing F2 means isolating heater circuits, taking resistance readings on H1/H2 heaters and RTDs, and checking solid-state-relay control signals inside the live electrical compartment. This is service-technician work requiring the oven schematic and Test Mode procedures. Have an authorized technician confirm and replace defective heaters, relays, or the control board; call TurboChef Customer Support at 800.90TURBO if you are unsure.
