What does AHT Cooling Systems E04 mean?
The control board detects a fault in the air outlet sensor. This temperature probe monitors the temperature of air leaving the evaporator section of the Vento display cabinet. The air outlet reading is used alongside the air intake sensor (E03) to monitor evaporator performance and control the refrigeration system. An open-circuit, short-circuit, or out-of-range reading triggers E04.
Symptoms
- E04 fault code displayed with red LED and buzzer active.
- Air outlet temperature display may show dashes or an implausible reading.
- Evaporator air temperature differential monitoring disabled, potentially affecting defrost and fan control.
- Cabinet may continue operating in a degraded control mode with reduced accuracy.
Common causes
- Air outlet sensor open-circuit or short-circuit failure.
- Sensor lead damaged by ice buildup, moisture ingress, or mechanical contact with the evaporator fins.
- Loose or corroded connector at the sensor or at the control board terminal block.
- Sensor dislodged from its mounting position in the air outlet duct.
- Control board sensor input channel failure.
Diagnostic steps
- 01
Log the fault and protect goods
Record fault code E04, device type, and serial number. Transfer perishable goods to another correctly rated cabinet if cabinet temperature control is impaired.

Locate the air outlet sensor
Find the temperature probe positioned in the air outlet section of the evaporator or discharge air duct of the Vento cabinet, per the AHT service diagram for your model.

Inspect sensor mounting and wiring
Check that the sensor is correctly seated and its lead is not pinched, ice-damaged, or abraded. Reseat connectors at both the sensor and control board ends.

Test sensor resistance
Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter at ambient temperature. An open circuit or dead short compared to the NTC curve in the AHT service documentation confirms sensor failure.

Replace the sensor
Fit an AHT-approved air outlet sensor in the correct position per AHT service documentation.

Verify fault cleared
Power up the cabinet, confirm E04 no longer appears, and monitor for 2 hours before reloading goods.
