AHT Cooling Systems E41 Error Code

What does AHT Cooling Systems E41 mean?
The controller reports that the heating gas (hot gas / discharge gas) temperature is too high, as measured by the pressure tube sensor on the compressor discharge line. This is the same sensor monitored for faults under E08. Excessively high discharge temperature indicates the compressor is working under severe stress — it accelerates compressor oil breakdown, degrades valve seals, and can cause compressor winding overheating, leading to premature failure if not addressed promptly.
Symptoms
- E41 fault code displayed with red LED and buzzer active.
- Discharge line (pressure tube) is extremely hot — hotter than normal operating temperature.
- Compressor may sound laboured or cycle on its internal protector.
- Cabinet cooling capacity may be reduced as the system operates inefficiently.
- High condensation pressure (E43) may co-occur, driving up discharge temperature further.
Common causes
- Condenser coils dirty or blocked, preventing adequate heat rejection and driving up discharge temperature.
- High condensation pressure due to ambient overtemperature or condenser fan failure.
- Refrigerant undercharge causing the compressor to compress predominantly superheated vapour, raising discharge temperature.
- High superheat at the compressor suction (E34) — the compressor receives warm gas and compresses it to even higher temperatures.
- Compressor mechanical wear causing inefficiency and elevated discharge temperature.
- Discharge temperature sensor (pressure tube sensor) fault producing a false high reading — confirm with a contact thermometer.

Diagnostic steps
Move goods and log the fault
Transfer perishable goods to another correctly rated cabinet immediately. Record E41, device type, and serial number from the nameplate.
Check and clean the condenser
Inspect condenser coils and grilles for dust and blockage — this is the most common cause of high discharge temperature. Clean per the AHT Vento cleaning procedure. Ensure condenser airflow is unobstructed and the condenser fan is running.
Verify ambient temperature and ventilation
Confirm the store ambient temperature is within the cabinet's rated ambient class. Ensure at least 60 mm clearance above the cabinet for warm air discharge. Remove any objects blocking condenser air exhaust.
Check for co-existing fault codes
Review the display for E43 (condensation pressure too high), E34 (superheat too high), or E32 (suction pressure too low) — these faults compound to raise discharge temperature and must all be addressed together.
Do not continue operating with E41 active
Sustained high discharge temperature will accelerate compressor wear and risk catastrophic compressor failure. Do not reset and continue operating if the root cause has not been resolved.
Contact AHT service
If E41 is not resolved by condenser cleaning and ventilation correction, contact AHT service at 00800/73783248 or www.aht.at/service. Refrigerant charge, sensor, and compressor assessment require an authorized technician.
When to call a professional
E41 indicates compressor stress that risks permanent damage. If condenser cleaning does not resolve the fault, contact an AHT-authorized technician immediately. On R-290 units, all refrigerant circuit work requires personnel certified for flammable refrigerants. Contact AHT service at 00800/73783248 or www.aht.at/service.
