What does Carel E204 mean?

E204 is a float contradiction alarm on the Carel humiSteam humidifier. The controller has detected a conflict between the water level signals from the float or level control assembly — for example, both a high and low water level condition indicated simultaneously, or a fill cycle that produced no expected level change. This indicates a malfunctioning level sensor, a stuck fill valve, or a contaminated cylinder.

Symptoms

• E204 displayed on the controller, alternating with the normal reading.
• Humidifier may halt the fill cycle or enter an alarm hold state.
• Fill electrovalve may cycle without the expected water level response.

   Clean the cylinder interior and the level control electrodes using the procedure in the service manual. Remove all scale and biological growth from the electrode surfaces and float assembly.

   Inspect and clean the fill electrovalve

   Remove and inspect the fill valve for scale deposits on the seat or stuck-open conditions. Flush or replace the valve if it cannot maintain a proper seal during off cycles.

   Check wiring to the level control

   Inspect the level sensor wiring harness for loose terminals or breaks. A disconnected wire on the level sensor creates a contradiction between the expected and actual level states.

   Restart and observe fill cycle behavior
