Diagnostic steps

   Manually test the drain valve or pump

   Use the manual drain function on the controller to command a drain cycle. Observe whether the drain valve opens (listen for click and water flow) or the drain pump activates and water exits.

   Inspect the drain valve for scale blockage

   Turn the machine off and inspect the drain electrovalve for mineral scale or debris preventing the valve from opening fully. Clean or replace the valve as required.

   Check the drain pipe and filter

   Inspect the drain pipe run for blockages, especially the internal cylinder filter. Remove and clean the filter if it is clogged with scale debris.

   Verify drain pump operation

   If a drain pump is fitted, check that it runs when commanded and is producing adequate flow. A failed pump motor or impeller requires replacement.

   Follow the AR procedure and manually reset E216

   Execute the Carel AR autotest retry procedure. After clearing the drain obstruction, manually reset E216 from the controller.
