Follett SLEEP CYCLE Error Code

Standby mode after a full bin and inactivity (7 and 15 Series)

Source: Follett/TechTown Forum/manuals/FOL-7CI100A_spm.pdf

What does Follett SLEEP CYCLE mean?

On 7 and 15 Series dispensers the Sleep cycle LED is a green normal-status indicator, not a fault. After a full bin and 10 minutes of non-use, the unit enters standby and will not produce ice until a time threshold passes or ice or water is dispensed. On the 7 Series the threshold is 12 hours and on the 15 Series it is 4 hours. Dispensing also wakes the unit.

Symptoms

  • Green Sleep cycle LED illuminated.
  • Unit not producing ice after a full bin and a period of non-use.
  • Normal operation resumes after the time threshold or after dispensing.
  • No other fault indicators present.

Common causes

  • Full bin followed by 10 minutes of non-use, triggering standby.
  • No dispensing activity to wake the unit.
  • Time threshold (12 hours on 7 Series, 4 hours on 15 Series) not yet elapsed.

Diagnostic steps

  1. Recognize it as normal

Sleep cycle is a green normal-status indicator; the unit is intentionally in standby after a full bin and inactivity, not faulted.

  2. Wake the unit by dispensing

Dispense ice or water to bring the unit out of standby, since dispensing activity ends the sleep cycle per the LED description.

  3. Wait out the threshold

If left idle, the unit resumes on its own after the model's threshold: 12 hours for the 7 Series or 4 hours for the 15 Series.

  4. Check for other indicators

Confirm no red fault LEDs are present; if only Sleep cycle is lit, no service is needed.

When to call a professional

Sleep cycle is normal energy-saving behavior and does not require service. Contact a Follett-authorized technician only if the unit fails to resume ice production after dispensing and after the model's time threshold has elapsed, which would point to a control or sensing issue rather than the normal standby state. Any internal diagnosis should be left to qualified technicians per the manual.
