What does Follett WATER LEAK mean?

On 7 and 15 Series dispensers, the Water leak LED is a red indicator that there is an internal leak in the dispenser. It is listed in the LED Indicator Description among the red fault indicators, signaling that water has been detected where it should not be inside the unit. Because internal water can reach electrical components, it warrants prompt attention.

Symptoms

  • Red Water leak LED illuminated on the user interface.
  • Water present inside the dispenser cabinet.
  • Possible water under or around the unit.
  • Indicator persists until the internal leak is found and corrected.

Common causes

  • Leaking internal water line, fitting or connection.
  • Water filter or inlet connection not fully seated or leaking.
  • Reservoir, valve or tubing leak inside the cabinet.
  • Leak-sensor fault if no water is actually present.

Diagnostic steps

  1. Disconnect power and water

Before opening the cabinet, disconnect power and turn off the water supply, as the service procedures instruct, since internal water and electrical components are present.

  2. Access internal components

Follow the manual's Accessing Internal Components procedure to remove the front panel and inspect inside the dispenser.

  3. Locate the leak source

Inspect water lines, fittings, the filter connection, reservoir and valves for the internal leak that the LED is reporting, and repair the source.

  4. Verify the indicator clears

After repair and drying the leak-sensing area, confirm the Water leak LED clears; if it stays on with no water present, suspect the leak sensor.

When to call a professional

An internal water leak combines water with the dispenser's electrical components, so the manual restricts service beyond routine cleaning to qualified technicians and requires disconnecting power before servicing. Tracing and repairing an internal leak, or diagnosing a leak sensor that reports falsely, should be done by a Follett-authorized technician to prevent shock and further water damage.
