Follett TIME DELAY Error Code

Normal restart delay after a full bin or amps time-out

Source: Follett/TechTown Forum/manuals/FOL-HCC1400A_spm.pdf

What does Follett TIME DELAY mean?

TIME DELAY is a yellow normal-status indicator, not a failure. When the bin fills, the LOW BIN light goes out, refrigeration and auger shut down, and the TIME DELAY light comes on to start the delay period; the machine restarts when the delay expires if LOW BIN is on. TIME DELAY also lights with HI AMP and SERVICE during a soft over-current fault, clearing automatically after the delay.

Symptoms

  • Yellow TIME DELAY LED illuminated while the machine is not making ice.
  • LOW BIN light off, with refrigeration and auger systems stopped.
  • Condenser fan continues to run for about 10 minutes after shutdown.
  • On 7/15 Series, ice production pauses at least 15 minutes after a full bin and some dispense activity.

Common causes

  • Bin filled with ice, opening the bin switch and starting the normal delay.
  • Soft HI AMPS fault, which lights TIME DELAY with HI AMP and SERVICE during its delay.
  • Normal restart timing controlled by the PC board after a stop.
  • Insufficient dispense activity since the last full bin (7/15 Series).

Diagnostic steps

  1. Confirm it is normal timing

TIME DELAY by itself with LOW BIN behavior is the normal post-full-bin restart delay; no action is needed beyond waiting for it to expire.

  2. Wait for the delay to expire

Allow the time delay to complete; the Horizon machine restarts when the delay ends provided the LOW BIN light is on.

  3. Check for an amps fault

If HI AMP and SERVICE are lit with TIME DELAY, treat it as a soft HI AMPS fault and follow that diagnosis; the LEDs clear after the delay if it was transient.

  4. Verify bin and shuttle operation

If TIME DELAY appears without a full bin, check the transport tube routing and shuttle, since a false shuttle signal can put the machine in time delay without a full bin.

When to call a professional

TIME DELAY on its own is normal operation and needs no service. Call a Follett-authorized technician only if the machine sits in TIME DELAY without a full bin after checking transport-tube routing and the shuttle, or if TIME DELAY appears alongside HI AMP and SERVICE repeatedly, indicating a recurring gearmotor over-current. Those checks involve internal moving parts, so disconnect power before servicing as the manual warns.
