What does Manitowoc Ice E19 mean?

Code E19 is the ice-thickness-probe (ITP) fault: the frequencies the board monitors from the probe are out of the appropriate range, which the handbook attributes to the probe being unplugged or a problem with its microphone element. Without a working probe the machine cannot tell when the slab is ready to harvest.

Symptoms

  • E19 logged; harvests triggered late, early or not at all
  • Ice slabs unusually thick or thin
  • Probe cable visibly loose after cleaning

Common causes

  • Probe unplugged (often after cleaning/service)
  • Probe fouled with scale
  • Failed probe (microphone element)
  • Damaged probe wiring to the board

Diagnostic steps

  1. 01

    Reseat the connection

Verify the probe plug at the control board is fully seated — the most common cause after a cleaning.

  2. 02

    Clean the probe

Descale the probe with the machine's cleaning procedure; scale detunes its sensing.

  3. 03

    Test per the handbook

Run the ITP diagnostic (jumper/light test) to prove whether the probe or the board is at fault before replacing parts.

  4. 04

    Confirm harvest trigger

Watch a cycle and confirm harvest initiates at the correct slab thickness.

When to call a professional

Control-board, sensor-circuit and wiring diagnostics involve live-voltage measurement on a commercial appliance. If you are not trained for live electrical work with the proper meter and PPE, or the fault persists after the checks here, have a qualified commercial ice-machine technician complete the diagnosis before parts are replaced.
