What does Manitowoc Ice E20 mean?
Code E20 is the water-system fault. The board raises it when the water sensing doesn't add up: the high-level probe senses water while the low-level probe doesn't, the evaporator outlet is colder than −10°F six minutes into freeze, or the water probe still reads satisfied at the end of harvest — all signs of a water-level, water-supply or water-probe problem.
Symptoms
- E20 logged; machine may stop mid-cycle or fail to start freeze
- Sump not filling, overfilling, or draining oddly
- Erratic behavior right after a water outage or filter change
Common causes
- No or restricted water supply (valve, filter, pressure)
- Water-level probe fouled with scale or failed
- Water inlet valve stuck
- Drain/siphon problem leaving wrong water levels
