Manitowoc Ice SERVICE LIMIT 1
USE0050: long Freeze-2 cycle — 1 flash of the service LED
Source: Manitowoc Ice/use0050a__man-use0050-sth111-th.pdf
What does Manitowoc Ice SERVICE LIMIT 1 mean?
On the USE0050, Service Limit 1 is the long Freeze-2 cycle fault, shown as 1 flash of the service LED. If the maximum Freeze-2 time of 60 minutes is reached for 3 consecutive cycles, the ice machine shuts down and the power LED turns off.
Symptoms
- Machine off with the power LED dark
- Service LED flashes once when the Service button is pressed
- Freeze cycles running very long before the shutdown
Common causes
- Harvest float not closed
- Refrigeration problem
- Electrical problem
Diagnostic steps
- 01
Read the flash code
Press the Service button and count flashes — 1 flash confirms Service Limit 1.
- 02
Check the harvest float
Verify the harvest float switch closes properly per the float-switch check procedure.
- 03
Run refrigeration diagnostics
If the float checks good, follow the handbook's refrigeration system diagnostics for the long-freeze cause.
- 04
Check the electrical side
Verify against the wiring diagram if refrigeration checks out.

When to call a professional
Refrigeration-system diagnosis and electrical work on this machine belong with a qualified commercial ice-machine technician (EPA certification for refrigerant work). If the service limit returns after the checks here, stop resetting the machine and book service — repeated safety-limit trips indicate an unresolved underlying fault.

Safety Limit 1 - freeze cycle ran too long (long freeze)
SL#2Safety Limit 2 - harvest cycle ran too long (long harvest)
SL#3Safety Limit 3 - no water sensed during the freeze cycle
E01Long freeze cycle — freeze ran to the 60-minute limit; 6 consecutive trigger the SL#1 shutdown
E02Long harvest cycle — harvest hit the 3.5-minute limit; repeated events log SL#2
E03Input power loss recorded in the event log on power-up (event-log entry only, no alarm)
E04High condenser temperature — liquid line too hot (air- or water-cooled condenser fault)
E05High-pressure control opened — the HPCO safety switch tripped on excess discharge pressure
E07Starving TXV or low on charge — evaporator inlet/outlet (T3/T4) spread over 12°F, 10 consecutive checks
E08TXV fault (dual-circuit/single-evaporator models) — evaporator underfeed signature
E09Evaporator flooding, circuit 1 — early-freeze discharge temperature below the 6-cycle average
E10Evaporator flooding, circuit 2 (dual-TXV) — early-freeze discharge temperature below the 6-cycle average
