Manitowoc Ice SERVICE LIMIT 3
USE0050: water loss / no water — 3 flashes of the service LED

What does Manitowoc Ice SERVICE LIMIT 3 mean?
On the USE0050, Service Limit 3 is the water-loss/no-water fault, shown as 3 flashes of the service LED. If the high- and low-level float switch does not open within 4 minutes into prechill, the machine shuts down and the power LED turns off. It retries after a 30-minute delay, repeats the 30-minute shutdowns while the symptom persists, and goes off permanently on Service Limit 3 after 100 restart attempts.
Symptoms
- Machine cycling off with 30-minute pauses, then off entirely
- 3 flashes on the service LED
- Sump not filling during prechill
Common causes
- No water supplied to the machine
- Plugged water filter
- Failed water inlet valve
Diagnostic steps
- 01
Restore the water supply
Confirm the shutoff is open and supply pressure is present at the machine.
- 02
Replace the water filter
A plugged filter starves the fill; swap it and retest.
- 03
Test the inlet valve
Verify the water inlet valve opens on command during prechill.
- 04
Watch a prechill
Confirm the float switch opens within the 4-minute window and the code stays clear.

When to call a professional
Refrigeration-system diagnosis and electrical work on this machine belong with a qualified commercial ice-machine technician (EPA certification for refrigerant work). If the service limit returns after the checks here, stop resetting the machine and book service — repeated safety-limit trips indicate an unresolved underlying fault.
