Coreco EtC Error Code

Internal clock (RTC) alarm — clock fault; reset by setting the time

Source: Coreco_easy_compact_eng_termostatos.pdf

What does Coreco EtC mean?

On the Coreco controller (Carel easy / easy compact), EtC is the internal-clock (RTC) alarm. It is activated only if the real-time clock is actually used — enabled, set, and with at least one valid time band. The RTC manages time-based defrosts, night-time operation and the AUX output, so this fault affects scheduled functions. EtC flashes on the display and is reset by setting the time.

Symptoms

  • Display shows EtC flashing
  • Buzzer sounds when the alarm is active
  • Scheduled (time-band) defrosts, night-time operation or AUX timing disrupted
  • Appears only when the RTC is enabled, set and has a valid time band
  • Clock time may be lost or incorrect

Common causes

  • Internal real-time clock fault
  • Clock time lost or not set while the RTC is enabled and in use
  • RTC enabled with a valid time band but unable to keep time
  • Power interruption affecting the internal clock
  • Controller RTC hardware issue

Diagnostic steps

  1. Confirm the clock alarm

EtC is the internal-clock error, raised only when the RTC is enabled, the time is set and at least one valid time band exists.

  2. Mute the buzzer

If there are active alarms, mute the buzzer first (press SET) before entering the clock settings.

  3. Reset by setting the time

EtC is reset by setting the time — access the clock parameters (tEn, dAY, hr, Min) and re-enter the current day and time to clear the alarm.

  4. Confirm the time bands

Verify the RTC is enabled (tEn=1) and the time bands for defrost, night-time and AUX are valid so scheduled functions resume correctly.

  5. Watch for recurrence

If EtC returns after the time is set, the internal clock is not holding time and the controller needs further attention.

When to call a professional

If EtC reappears after the clock has been set correctly, the controller's internal clock hardware is likely faulty and a qualified technician should assess or replace the controller. Note the unit does not manage automatic daylight-saving changeover. Controller diagnosis and replacement involve the cabinet's electrical system reserved for qualified personnel.
