What does Coreco P1 mean?

On the Coreco controller (Dixell XW30/XW60/XW70), P1 is the room (thermostat) probe failure alarm: the probe signal is interrupted, short-circuited or out of range so the controller can no longer read it. While P1 is active the compressor runs on a timed cycle set by parameters Con and CoF instead of thermostatic control.

Symptoms

• Display shows P1
• Room (thermostat) probe reading unavailable
• Alarm/buzzer active and the alarm relay may energise
• While P1 is active the compressor runs on a timed cycle set by parameters Con and CoF instead of thermostatic control.

Common causes

• Probe signal interrupted (open circuit / broken wire)
• Probe short-circuited
• Probe out of range or wrong (non-NTC/incompatible) type
• Loose or corroded probe terminal
• Faulty probe element

Diagnostic steps

1. 01

   Confirm which probe failed

   The P-code identifies the failed probe (P1 thermostat, P2 evaporator, P3 configurable/display, P4 fourth probe). Note which one before testing.

2. 02

   Inspect the probe wiring and connector

   With power isolated, check the affected probe's signal lead and terminal for an interrupted (open) or short-circuited connection and reseat any loose or corroded connector.

3. 03

   Verify the probe type

   Confirm the fitted probe is the correct NTC type for the Dixell XW controller; an incompatible or out-of-range probe also raises the P-alarm.

4. 04

   Replace the probe if faulty

   If the wiring is sound and the probe is the right type, replace it. The alarm clears automatically once the controller reads the probe correctly.

When to call a professional

Access to the cabinet's electrical parts is reserved for qualified personnel. If checking the wiring and connector does not clear the probe alarm, or the probe must be replaced and regulation re-verified, have a qualified refrigeration technician complete the work.
